For several weeks, feverish brainstorming filled the carpentry workshop in the village of Laknäs, just outside Tällberg. Ideas were exchanged, and prototypes were tested, resulting in a completely new product - a wooden board with eight Swedish types of wood. This was the start of a long-term collaboration between Hotel Villa Långbers and local company Gott Virke, which is run by the fine carpenter and forester Bengt Andersson.
Unique product in wood
First up in the collaboration are a unique wooden board, which guests at Villa Långbers get to experience during selected dinners in the restaurant.
- Working with local craftsmen is valuable to us. And getting to work with Bengt is absolutely wonderful. He has so much knowledge about different types of wood and can guide us through the design process so that the end result is both functional and beautiful, says Jonna Fischer Matz, Marketing Manager at Tällbergsgruppen.
Bengt is the protector of trees and diversity
As a educator in wood, Bengt Andersson has extensive experience in imparting knowledge in various types of wood.
- I only work with Swedish wood. It is my responsibility as forester to take advantage of what we have in the forest, to cherish the diversity in nature with a broad representation of deciduous trees, says Bengt Andersson.
In total, Bengt uses 16 different types of wood in production, which he carefully selects and dries before processing. Several of these can be found on the wooden board produced for Villa Långbers. Each wooden board is unique and the type of wood used tells the punched description on the end wood.
